Passing on the Torch - Glass Craft Innovation Exhibition

Exhibition period: 2022-08-06~2023-02-12

Location: Miaoli Craft Industry Research and Development Branch Art Space (Miaoli, Taiwan)

Taiwan's glass industry originated in Taipei in the 13th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1887 AD). Before and after the Sino-Japanese War, Japan sent technicians to investigate the distribution of silica sand in Hsinchu and found that Hsinchu has rich reserves and unique natural resources. The development of the traditional glass industry has led to the vigorous development of glass art here, forming a unique local craft culture.

This exhibition is based on the inheritance and mission planning of glass art by Mr. Lin Yaonong of Hsinchu. "Passing on the Torch" is the role of the advocate of glass craft. He uses the uniqueness of glass materials, such as transparency, color, extension, and reflection, to temper through high-temperature flames, combined with his unique mouth-blown glass and wire-drawn glass techniques to create amazing works that allow people to have unlimited imagination, and hopes to pass on the glass craft industry sustainably.
